You asked…

When I published LifeWithAlisha.com and announced her to the world, I asked my Instagram followers for questions that they were burning to ask me. So many questions were asked, big and small. A few questions deserve their own post and the others I will be answering below. I read comments, so please if you have any other questions you would like to ask, please comment below the post!

What is your favorite statement piece?

I switch in between sneakers and earrings, just depends on the outfit. I love pairing sneakers with any outfit that I can. My favorite thing to do is a blazer with a graphic tee and then a pair of sneakers. When it comes to earrings, I have a million pairs of hoops and I enjoy wearing colorful earrings to make more of a statement. Right now, my favorite type of earring is anything neon, neon hoops, layered earrings, anything neon.

How was your Post-Grad Transition and what did you learn from it?

This is definitely a question that needs its own post. But to answer briefly, my post-grad transition was unique in so many ways. Mentally, it was very challenging. I went from having to be at 5 different places at one time, to honestly having nothing. I forced myself to go to grad school and hated it. Then I started working for Urban Outfitters and that was probably what saved me from feeling worthless. Honestly it was a journey that I am still on, and it is a rollercoaster! I want to get more into this topic, because I know so many people deal with post-grad depression and are going to, so stay tuned! Thank you for asking.

Where does your love for Hip Hop stem from?

Love Love Love this question, as always. This also will have its own post. To give you a quick answer, my father’s love for Hip Hop definitely is the reason for mine. While you guys wait for this post, check out this brief documentary that SC-ETV did on my non-profit, Hip Hop Makes Me Feel. Click Here

Make-Up Routine? Your makeup always looks great!

Thank you!!! I was just telling my fiancé the other day that I do not do my makeup as much as I used to. But, I do love my go-to face, so I will post that for you guys in a video form.

What’s your favorite German Food?

OH, what a perfect time to ask this question. I am going to Germany in March and I can not wait to show where I grew up. I love German food. My favorite German meal is Geschnetzeltes with home-made spaetzle. I know that means nothing to you, but no worries, my Oma is going to make me this meal while I’m home so I will take a picture! I also love Laugenbroetchen, which is basically pretzel rolls, all German chocolate, and kartoffelsalat, German style potato salad. The list goes on! Oh yeah, currywurst haha

How did Jarrell ask you to be his girlfriend?

I wish I could remember exactly. Jarrell and I talked for about 4-5 months before we actually put a title on our relationship. Everyone knew we were basically together. I do remember that he was going to ask me on Valentine’s Day but he ended up not asking, so then he asked a few days later on the 23rd. I do not remember the words exactly but I know it was straight to the point haha.

Advice you would give someone wanting to start their own organization?

This is a great question. There is no perfect time to start, you just have to do it.  I am going to outline how I started Hip Hop Makes Me Feel and include the steps to the whole process.

Where do you buy most of your clothes?

I buy most of my clothes online, because the shopping here in Utah is not the best. Before going on a trip, for quick outfits I usually buy from MissGuided or PrettyLittleThing. The quality is not that great but it is cheap enough for me to not feel bad if I only wear something once. Other than that I shop from so many different places.

How is it dating a professional athlete? Pros and Cons?

Long post needed for this haha. But it is very spontaneous. I used to be very much of a planner, just because I was a very busy person. Through my relationship and this lifestyle I have learned how to live more in the moment. For example, I may decide to go on a trip a week before. Just the idea of that used to give me a headache but now I am just like okay cool. Most of our relationship has been long distance, but for the past year we saw each other almost every single day, now we may go a week or two without seeing each other, and that is weird. We make it work, and I have a great support system so everything that seems like a con, turns into a pro somehow.

What advice would you give someone planning a wedding?

GET A WEDDING PLANNER. Simple as that. To cut costs, at first I was like I do not need a wedding planner, but then I realized I have no idea how to plan a wedding. I decided to get a wedding planner for the planning, design, and the day of. Most wedding planners split their services so you get to decide on how you would like them to help you in your planning which is nice. Planning a wedding has so many small details and a planner really helps you a lot. It definitely is worth the cost.

How was it moving across the country?

At first the move from Utah to South Carolina was not difficult. The weather in August here is amazing, I was learning the city, Jarrell had a lot of freetime and we were able to do a lot of things together. Once the season started it got a little difficult for me, just because Jarrell was in between two schedules and I was home alone and missing my family. It has gotten easier now, but I would definitely advise the next girl to take some time for herself and go home more often.

What has been the hardest part about moving to Utah?

Missing out on things back home and not being able to see my friends and family whenever I wanted. I am still going through that post-grad transition, so I think that is the hardest part. At first I was not really doing anything, just trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, so I had a lot of free time. I have worked since I can remember so having free time is completely new to me, so that was hard for me to accept.

Will there be a wedding post or puppy adoption post?

YES to both. I am drafting a wedding planning post that I was not planning on releasing until after the wedding. And my puppy, Melo, deserves his own post.

Is it hard dating a professional athlete?

I would not say it is hard, but just as any relationship, there are sacrifices and adjustments. I have the best partner ever so he makes it easy.

XO, Alisha
