Pregnancy Questions!

Here I am just a few days from 20 weeks. I can not believe how fast the time has gone by. There are some weeks that feel like they will never end and then there are others that felt like a blur. Since I have not shared much about my pregnancy, I asked my followers what questions they had and I’ll share a little about my journey so far! If you have more questions to ask, send them below, I’ll be happy to answer them all!

In my first trimester, we marched a bunch of miles to protest. Our friends who we marched with did not know I was pregnant and I told them during the march! I was sooooo tired and so nervous I was not drinking enough water, but I just slept really good that night haha.In my first trimester, we marched a bunch of miles to protest. When did you find out you were pregnant?

I found out I was pregnant in May. We were visiting home for the month, Charleston, and I had found out just a day before my friends were coming into town to visit. I want to keep some details private, but it was a beautiful experience for Jarrell and I, especially since we were home and were able to tell most of our family in person before we went back to Utah. I was upset with myself a little because I ate like anything I wanted while on our “staycation” and started my pregnancy with a few added pounds, but those pounds fell off my first trimester anyways.

Was your first trimester difficult and how did you deal with morning sickness?

My first trimester was interesting. I am the first out of my close friends to get pregnant, so I really did not know what to expect besides what I already knew and what I had read. Honestly, reading and talking to other moms did not really prepare me, because every woman is different, which is the beautiful part of the female body!!!

I was pretty tired my first trimester and had to take naps, which I never do. I did not have much morning sickness, besides needing an extra 30 minutes to get out of bed because I just felt a little “hungover,” that’s the best way to describe my experience. I also felt like I needed to eat right away when I woke up.

For Jarrell’s birthday, June 7th, I tried to enjoy a piece of his AMAZING birthday cake but knew it would make me feel horrible so I had a few bites. The thing I struggled with the most was nausea. I would get it in the afternoon/evening and it was pretty horrible and some days it was unbearable. I could not even look at anything sweet, which I hoped would stick throughout the whole pregnancy, but that has faded haha. I also could not eat onions or garlic. I tried ginger candies, lemon and ginger tea, ginger smoothies, small meals throughout the day, B6, which helped a little at first, honestly I tried it all besides prescription medicine. In week 15 I started to feel really sick to the point where I was panicking, so I decided to reach out to my doctor and ask for a prescription. She prescribed me Bonjesta, and it has saved my life.

Did you have any cravings?

NOPE! I wish I did. The only thing I can say is that I always knew exactly what I wanted to eat, if I had an appetite at all. I spent most of my first trimester in Utah, so I did not eat out much at all. Once I got to Charleston, I started to eat out a lot more.

Are you moving back to South Carolina or just here temporarily?

In a perfect world, our plan is to stay here in South Carolina until we know where we will be next. Then move before December so we can get settled in before the baby comes. The pandemic pretty much puts everything up in the air, so I have not taken the time to really stress out about where we will be. I’ll start stressing in December haha.

Do you have a birth plan?

I have always been the type of person to lean on remedies rather than medicine so I have always entertained the idea of having a natural birth. ’m not sure where I am giving birth yet so I have not been able to really connect with a doula or midwife. My doctor right now is amazing and I connect with her very well, so if we stay here in Charleston, I may give birth in a hospital. Giving birth is obviously a big fear of mine so I want to make a decision based on how comfortable I am and what is the safest for my baby.

Have you guys picked out a name?

Yes! I am an indecisive person, so the first name that Jarrell loved is the name we stuck with. I love it too and think it’s perfect!

How has it been with Jarrell being in the bubble?

It has been easier than I expected it to be. I have my days when I am super emotional. Other than that I appreciate the journey that we are both on individually and I understand how important it is for his career, so I was never really upset. Plus, I think it makes it easier that most doctors offices are not allowing guests in the appointments so he would have missed things regardless. Plus, I am home with my mom and family so I have not been alone.

What has been the biggest challenge so far?

My biggest challenge has most definitely been my overthinking. During pregnancy, your body changes so much. I had trouble with understanding certain symptoms, especially when they would disappear and new symptoms appeared. For the past few days I have been absolutely fine, besides needing a nap, and that scared me at first but now I am enjoying it.

Well that’s it! I summed up some questions, but answered what I could. I am really excited about this journey and appreciate all the love and support! If you have any more questions, comment below!
